Winter Warmer Retreat
Sri Lanka Budget-friendly Retreat
31st August-7th September 2024
All inclusive- $3000 per person
Komari, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka Winter Retreat 2021Get away from the Winter Cold and Relax, Reset and Restore in the most lush, pristine, laid back and easy going beaches bays in the whole of Sri Lanka... hidden off the beaten track, Komari is a secluded paradise . The Lighthouse Beach Huts are one of only 2 properties in the Komari area, set right on the beach 20mins away from the tourist area of Arugum Bay on the East Coast- a famous surf break. The huts are basic, with your own ensuite and hammocks hung outside. Owned by locals and catered lovingly with fresh produce, fish and coconuts right off the trees next to your huts... you'll never want to leave.
I wanted to create a Retreat offering that is attainable for all... we all deserve to be able to get away and experience beautiful places without spending all our savings. That way we can do them more often ;)
We will enjoy 5 nights at the Lighthouse Beach Huts in Komari, after 2 nights in Negombo we then fly from Colombo to near Komari on the civilian military charter flights to avoid the often painful road traffic. Arriving by coach to Komari for our secluded beach retreat.
2 classes of Yoga a day with morning meditation & pranayama will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in your practice and really progress in a safe and playful environment.
See some of the best Sri Lanka has to offer and take some time out for yourself before or after to explore the Island.
All levels of practice welcome but experience in Yoga is necessary.

There are direct flights from Melbourne & Brisbane with Sri Lankan Airlines
Recommended flights:
Singapore Airlines SYDNEY-SINGAPORE-COLOMBO
Aprox 11-13hrs either way, flights arrive into Colombo Airport around midnight so transport from the airport to accomodation is arranged
BUDGET option: From Sydney there are cheaper flights with Air Asia from $600 on Sale right now!!!! return with a 4hr stop over in KL
*advice is check the layover times and destinations... this will affect how comfortable or uncomfortable the flight will be.
The Space:
The Lighthouse Beach Huts is a family owned property built on the beach in Komari- it's one of only 2 accomodation options on this magical stretch of beach. Built gradually after the whole area was washed away during the tsunami, the owner Ranga planted the coconut forest here himself since.
The Yoga space is covered and on a cement floor so great during the hot months as it stays cool (this was the selling point for me)
The accomodation is basic, singular huts with mosquito nets hidden amongst the coconut trees each little ensuite attached. Most have a hammock outside for naps and reading breaks.
The beach is literally outside the huts... usually empty of tourists and a perfect spot to learn to surf, spend the day amongst the waves and loose track of time.
There is a communal area for meals- all the food is cooked by the family and is just delicious- both traditional Sri Lankan food as well as Western options available... fresh young coconuts are plentiful cut straight off the trees around us.
It really feels like you're a million miles away from the business of home and work. Truely paradise. When I visited in 2019 I knew this was somewhere special I wanted to share with people.

Why Choose these Retreats?
"Going on a retreat with Vicky is like going with a good friend, a very knowledgeable friend!!Her attention to detail is superb, a super technical teacher who manages to find that perfect balance between strength and flexibility. And will not compromise your safety at any point just to achieve a certain Asana. Its always a pleasure to be taught by Vicky and I look forward to the next retreat.
A true inspiration."- Tim
"I just returned from a wonderful week end with Vicky at Govinda valley where we had a 2 day retreat. We covered so many aspects of yoga while there; pranayama, meditation, Vinyasa, Acro -Yoga, all in a supportive, fun environment.
Vicky’s precision in her teaching technique and attention to safety in each asana is second to none. Her attention to detail is top notch and allows yogis to progress, no matter what stage they are at.
Despite there being a range of experience in the group, Vicky supported us all uniquely and each person did as much or as little as they wished, at their own pace. The benefit of a retreat of course is to have time to sink into the depths of yoga that is not usually afforded in the class time.
Yoga aside, I can’t fail to mention the beautiful environment, fantastically delicious food and wonderful activities Vicky organised for us such as ‘Make your own face mask’ followed by a juicy relaxing Yoga Nidra guided sleep meditation. We also had time for a walk on the beach or to enjoy the surrounds.I had a fantastic experience and am looking forward to the next retreat. I highly recommend it.
Thanks Vicky; keep up the amazing work".- Geraldine
"Vicky is an excellent teacher and one of the most dynamic teachers I have come across. Her classes are always unique and challenging which allows you to grow and develop in your practice for those practicing regularly. Vicky incorporates her knowledge of anatomy into her classes and encourages her students to take time to focus on alignment and the journey of yoga rather than on the final pose. Her recent retreat was incredible - physically and mentally - just one weekend away with Vicky and I could see a difference in my practice."- Rae

She will be teaching a playful, dynamic fusion of a broad range of yoga styles, drawing on her 12 years of teaching experience, to nurture students to become their most aligned and balanced selves. We will start each day with a guided meditation to set intentions and clear the mind for the exciting day ahead. Morning classes will be Vinyasa style, appropriate for all levels of experience. The evening sessions will be Yin and restorative practices all themed and tailored to our specific group.
Sommelier and Drinks Communicator, Samantha Payne will be guiding you through the wine and food sessions of the retreat. With her 16 years’ experience in the wine industry, she understands more than most how vital imbibing in moderation is, and her approach to these drinks masterclasses focus on the natural symbiosis of wine and food. Learn about Sustainably farmed wines over dinner or discover the beautiful wines of the Hunter Valley region over lunch with multi-award winning Winemaker Usher Tinkler (from Usher Tinkler Wines).
