Testimonials
"I attended Vicky's fascia roller workshop yesterday. Vicky did a great job at explaining verbally and physically how to get the most out of your foam roller!
Being a small class she paid attention to each and everyone of us to ensure we got as much out of the class as possible. Would definitely recommend."- Louise
'I’ve been on all 3 of Vicki’s retreats so far. She is such an amazing teacher and I can honestly say that a lot of my progress as a yogi is because of her teaching style. She has so much knowledge on how to obtain different poses, always with balance and alignment in mind. On top of that she is friendly, generous, kind and fantastic to spend time with if you are thinking of retreating with her."- Tammy
"Going on a retreat with Vicky is like going with a good friend, a very knowledgeable friend!!Her attention to detail is superb, a super technical teacher who manages to find that perfect balance between strength and flexibility. And will not compromise your safety at any point just to achieve a certain Asana. Its always a pleasure to be taught by Vicky and I look orward to the next retreat.
A true inspiration."- Tim
"I just returned from a wonderful week end with Vicky at Govinda valley where we had a 2 day retreat. We covered so many aspects of yoga while there; pranayama, meditation, Vinyasa, Acro -Yoga, all in a supportive, fun environment.
Vicky’s precision in her teaching technique and attention to safety in each asana is second to none. Her attention to detail is top notch and allows yogis to progress, no matter what stage they are at.
Despite there being a range of experience in the group, Vicky supported us all uniquely and each person did as much or as little as they wished, at their own pace. The benefit of a retreat of course is to have time to sink into the depths of yoga that is not usually afforded in the class time.
Yoga aside, I can’t fail to mention the beautiful environment, fantastically delicious food and wonderful activities Vicky organised for us such as ‘Make your own face mask’ followed by a juicy relaxing Yoga Nidra guided sleep meditation. We also had time for a walk on the beach or to enjoy the surrounds.I had a fantastic experience and am looking forward to the next retreat. I highly recommend it.
Thanks Vicky; keep up the amazing work".- Geraldine
"Vicky is an excellent teacher and one of the most dynamic teachers I have come across. Her classes are always unique and challenging which allows you to grow and develop in your practice for those practicing regularly. Vicky incorporates her knowledge of anatomy into her classes and encourages her students to take time to focus on alignment and the journey of yoga rather than on the final pose. Her recent retreat was incredible - physically and mentally - just one weekend away with Vicky and I could see a difference in my practice."- Rae
"I’ve been doing yoga off and on for many years and Vicky is the first yoga teacher who I feel really knows how to explain and teach the positions in a way that is easy to understand and in no way pretentious (as some yoga teachers can come across). The care and attention Vicky gives each class member also really helps you get better at each and every class. I had never done a head stand before because it just seemed like something only the people ‘good’ at yoga can do. Vicky taught the class what to do and how it would feel, and to my amazement one day I did my first one. The feeling was truly awesome, not only because of the yoga benefits but because I actually did one and I just never dreamt I’d be able to.
Since becoming pregnant Vicky has also shown me that her knowledge of yoga and the body extends even further. I’ve been able to stay in the same class with Vicky letting me know alternatives for some of the positions during pregnancy. Her care and attention are greatly appreciated and I really trust that she is looking after me
To sum Vicky up in a few words: Knowledge, care and excellent teaching ability with a positive attitude that is infectious. I once said to my husband Vicky is the kind of person I wish I could be!". Angela Swinnerton
"I love Vicky's yoga class!! There is a great atmosphere in her classes which makes you feel very motivated, relaxed and focused.
Vicky is so full of positive energy, she always receives you with a big warm smile and she will involve you in all her classes by correcting your postures and challenging you with new posses of strength, flexibility and balance.
She is not only amazing at what she does but she is also very passionate and a great teacher! There is so much to learn from her! I truly love her classes and recommend anyone to give it a try!! " Carolina
"Every one of Vicky's classes are different, at the end of each I leave her class feeling light, centered and renewed. Her classes are at once challenging and calming.
Her teaching style suits people of all levels. Love her classes!". Siny Ratana
"I started doing yoga at school classes, at first I was a little skeptical but Vicky is a great teacher who encompasses all the important aspects of yoga. Her classes really help me relax, de-stress and take my mind off busy school work. Class with Vicky is always fun, trying new poses and variations, I especially love the AcroPlay and Yogini Teen classes because it challenges the mind as well as body. I never feel uncomfortable in class, knowing that I can go as far as I want without any pressure. Vicky also goes through injury prevention and healing and with each pose tells us what it is good for be it strengthening a muscle group or internal benefit. This information is really important for teenagers who are prone to injuries or interested in health. I love yoga with Vicky its one of the regular highlights of my week". Pheobe
"I have been taking yoga classes with Vicky for over a year and in that time I have tried MANY other teachers. She excels at making the difficult simple and making every standard feel welcome and that they're achieving something, which is important when you're a guy, very tall and not very bendy (like me)! She's also great at breaking down the spiritual side of yoga into something more practical and liveable – a great balance!" – Adrian Kwan
"I started yoga late in life. I have reclaimed my body since starting classes with Vicky. I am no longer bits and pieces hung precariously together.
Her challenging ,warm and nurturing classes have enabled me to honour my body for what it does for me each day.
She has taught me that "my yoga journey" is exactly that, Mine!! There is no pressure , no competition.. Vicky loves to answer any question, and will quickly give you a modification on any pose.. Vicky certainly knows her stuff! I love her classes ,her infectious smile and her warm heart. I leave her classes feeling renewed and alive. My one regret?? Why I had not discovered Yoga and Vicky earlier. Now Im hooked." Cathy
"I started yoga two or three years ago and can’t live without it! I was always sceptical and though it would be boring. But yoga makes me feel so good and Vicky makes it so much fun that I miss my class only when I go away. Vicky is wonderful teacher and a true yogi! Her way of teaching is very safe, strong and she is always in tune with her class and its abilities. Every class is different, so it is never boring but it feels like every time we do yoga with Vicky another piece (of whatever puzzle we are) fall into place. It feels wonderful and I always look forward to my class, I just can’t miss it. Since I started doing yoga every week with Vicky, I don’t have neck, shoulder and back issues, Vicky does therapeutic yoga as well as other different kinds for different needs and conditions.
I’ve encouraged my work colleagues and friends to do yoga and recommend it to everybody. That is the beauty of yoga, everyone can do it at any age or stage of life. It is good for flexibility, strength and general health." - Svetlana
FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be flexible to do yoga?
Thinking you have to be flexible to do yoga is a myth. Yoga was actually created to help you gain more flexibility, which loosens tight muscles and prevents injury.
What should I wear to yoga? What should I bring?
Wear comfortable clothing that is stretchy and light. Bring a water bottle, a yoga mat if you have one and a small towel if you'd like, and an open mind.
What Is Yoga?
My favourite definition is from my teacher Maty Ezraty... "yoga is creating strong and Mobile spines, to be healthy they need to move through their full range: forward flexion, back contraction, side (lateral) stretching, and Rotation (twisting)".
The word yoga, from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as "union" or a method of discipline.
I work out often, can I take advanced classes?
If you've never done yoga before, come to some Beginner Classes before you try the harder styles of Yoga or the Acroplay. But honor what your body needs and respect a yoga practice is often very different other types of exercise. It may take a few classes for your body to create the muscle memory to advance in a yoga class.
Should I eat before coming to class?
Doing yoga on a full stomach is not fun, yet doing yoga when you’re starving isn’t a good idea either. We recommend eating a light snack one hour before class or a meal 2-3 hours before class. This way your body is fueled but not focused on digestion.
How Many Times Per Week Should I Practice?
Yoga is amazing—even if you only practice when you start for 1 class a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits. I suggest starting with two or three times a week. If you can only do 20 minutes per session, that's fine too. Don't let time constraints or unrealistic goals be an obstacle—do what you can and don't worry about it.
Is Yoga a Religion?
Yoga is not a religion. It is a philosophy that began in India an estimated 5,000 years ago. There are no rules in Yoga, when rules enter the equation it becomes religion. It is also not necessary to surrender your own religious beliefs to practice yoga.
